BERNARDO GUILLERMO:
WORK: Mirabelle Table
Mirabelle Table was first commissioned for a client after whom the design was named. The table is made of quartered white oak, with a plywood tabletop, and is stained white. Visually, the design follows a strict and simple geometric scheme. The table's skirts and legs taper in at set angles, to make a seamless joint that comes to a point at the corner. The legs are constructed from two pieces of quartered oak joined at an angle of fifty degrees, forming a strong and stable structure that requires no further support. The table is manufactured from lumber harvested locally from sustainably managed forests. The design of the table allows for an efficient use of materials, resulting in minimal overall waste. All adhesives, stains, and finishes used in construction are water-based and non-toxic. The table was selected for exhibition in 2008 by Design Within Reach "MODERN + DESIGN + FUNCTION" in New York City.
